Lunch most days is al fresco, beneath the shade of some magnificent acacia and pepper trees. And the evenings have their own special charm too. After a day in the fresh air, a Naivasha cocktail beside the roaring log fire in the residents lounge sets the pace for an enjoyable evening. Guests can look forward to a “home-grown” dinner prepared only from the freshest lake side ingredients.
One of the country’s leading horticultural and agricultural areas, Naivasha produces world-class fruit, vegetables and flowers for export to Europe.
Lake Naivasha Country Club offers guests an opportunity to enjoy their drink next to the pool a the pool bar. Guests also get to experience lawn dinners where they have a choice between buffet and a fixed menu.
Lake Naivasha is the focus of daily activities. There is fishing for black bass and tilapia, and a boat trip during the day provides a close view of Naivasha’s wide variety of birdlife and its hippo colonies. The club offers a sundowner boat trip which combines the sunset on the Lake with exotic drinks.
Crescent Island, 15 minutes away by boat, is a private game sanctuary, with zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, vervet monkeys, hares, genet cats, waterbuck and giraffe. Crescent Island is one of the few places in Africa where people can wander on foot among herds of antelope since there are no predators on the island. The club will arrange boat trips for a reasonable charge.
Naivasha is also a site for birdwatching, with over 300 species of birds on display: three bird-walks a day have been offered along the grounds of the country club, including early morning bird-walks which are particularly good for rare sightings of birds. They also have a bird sighting book available publicly to record the birds you see.
